ENM is a new pain relief technology that is delivered through a small hand held electronic device, which is very simple to use and is powered by a built in rechargeable battery.
ENM was developed by Dr John Royle, a GP based in Great Harwood, Lancashire, who has had an interest in pain relief for over 25 years. Dr Royle was aware of a "last resort" pain relief technique that was used to good effect called Spinal Column Stimulation (SCS) where electrode wires were implanted and electricity passed directly into the spine. He wanted to achieve the same effect but without the need for an operation and all the associated issues. By combining the principles of SCS with a drug delivery system known as "iontophoresis", he invented ENM, which uses two sticky pads placed over the spine to deliver rapid electrical impulses that cause no sensation at all at therapeutic levels but do have a pain relieving effect. The electrical impulses produced by the ENM device work by altering (modulating) the way in which the deeper nerves of the Central Nervous System (CNS) conduct chronic pain signals along the spinal column to the brain.
Many people with chronic pain conditions have reported that their pain is significantly reduced and Dr Royle conducted a blinded, placebo controlled, cross over trial which he presented at the Pain Society meeting in Manchester in March 2004, when ENM was launched.
A number of pancreatitis sufferers have derived benefit from the device and it's ideal for safe, easy self-treatment at home.
ENM is only available directly from:
remedi (UK) Ltd The Saturn Centre Challenge Way Blackburn Lancashire BB1 5QB

ENM devices normally cost B#165.00 but remedi are offering a discounted price of B#150.00 to our members. There is also a money back deal with the device should it not prove to be satisfactory.
This works with a couple of rubber pads being fixed to the small of the back either side of the spine. There are two wires which attach to a small box. this box delivers a small electric current to the back which is of a pulse nature. The intensity of the pulse and the strength of the signal can be varied.
What is the principal behind this? The idea is that the electrical field that is built up around the area between the pads stimulates the body's own endorphines (these are the bodies own pain killers if you like). The unit is non addictive unlike the morphine, though strength has to be altered if worn for long periods. the idea is to have it on for a couple of hours at a time and then give it a rest inbetween as the effects keep happening for at least an hour after it is turned off.
NOTE: It doe NOT work so well for everyone. TRY before you BUY! Yes you have to buy it though you can get one from the hospital on loan to try it out first of all.
